  • What is cause of Genetic Baldness?

Everyone loses hair on daily basis during morning shower, blow drying or brushing. Most people normally shed 50 to 100 hairs a day. But with voluminous hairs in the scalp, this amount of hair loss does not cause noticeable thinning of the scalp hair. Gradually with age, hair tends to gradually thin. Other causes of hair loss comprise hormonal factors and medical conditions. Hair loss may be a sign of a serious medical condition that may require a dermatologist consultation for effective treatment. Linea - Cosmetic Surgery and Hair Transplant Clinic is a reliable clinic for Herbal Hair Loss Treatment in Calicut.

    Hormonal Factors

The most common cause of hair loss is a hereditary condition in males known as male-pattern baldness. This problem is also found in females known as female-pattern baldness. In genetically susceptible people, certain sex hormones trigger a particular pattern of permanent hair loss. We are here to provide Best Hair Loss Treatment in India.

Hormonal changes and imbalances can also cause temporary hair loss. This could be due to pregnancy, childbirth, discontinuation of birth control pills or the onset of menopause.

    Medical Conditions

Disorders such as Telogen Effluvium, Hereditary Hair Loss, Hypothyroidism, Lupus, Anaemia, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, Skin Conditions of the Scalp, Alopecia Areata and Excessive Styling etc. cause hair loss.

    Other causes of hair loss

Hair loss can also result due to following reasons:

    • Many people experience a general thinning of hair after a physical or emotional shock. Examples include sudden or excessive weight loss, a traumatic condition, a high fever, or a death in the family.

    • In case of a mental illness, people have an irresistible urge to pull out their hair from the scalp, eyebrows or other areas of the body. This hair pulling from the scalp often leaves patchy bald spots on the head.

    • Hair loss may also occur if the hair is pulled too tightly to make certain hairstyles such as pigtails or cornrows.

The commonest pattern is called as MALE PATTERN BALDNESS (MPB). The problem takes few years to develop, never happens overnight

    Genetic Baldness treatment in Kerala

In the presence of Androgens (Male sex Hormones) Genetically coded hair on the scalp start getting shorter and thinner(on videoscopy), instead of growing thicker and longer.

The change is slow, irreversible and unpredictable

WHAT IS CLEAR IS THE FOLLOWING: When hair loss occurs, Problem is with HAIR, not the SKIN

    hair transplantation treatment in Kerala

Few hairs last life long as they have escaped genetic coding.

  • If good hair is made to grow in areas of hair loss, will they survive permanently?

Yes, they will. After transplant of this strong hair to areas of hair loss, the original hair of that area may fall off, but the transplanted hair will not. This is the hair that can survive despite the Androgens, as they retain their original nature even after transplant.

  • What decides the success of a HT procedure?

Though the technique of HT is the same regardless anywhere, It is the surgeon -who can make a difference to the result. This is just like doing a painting, the colour used are all the same, the result depends on who is the Painter!

What are the STAGES of Hair Loss? (IN A GIVEN AREA of SCALP)

While normal hair grows continuously, under the influence of androgens, the hair starts to become thinner and shorter. As the gaps between adjacent hairs start to increase, more and more of scalp skin begins to show and baldness begins to develop. Progress of this change, decides the severity of baldness as in the table below

    Visibility of HAIR versus
    visibility of SKIN

    Video Scope changes

    Is HT surgery needed?

    Other supportive Care

    LESS Skin, MORE Hair seen

    Hair gets thinner

    MAIN STAY of treatment

    MORE Skin, LESS Hair seen

    Thinner & Shorter

    3. SEVERE

ALL Skin , NO Hair seen at all.

    Very short & thin,
    Not visible to naked eye

  • When is the right time to do HT?

Let us look at this Stage-wise, as per severity of loss in a given area
I EARLY - Surgery not Recommended
II MODERATE: >40% hair show shortening
    III SEVERE - Yes

  • How much to do? What density of Hair to achieve by the HT procedure?

Normal density is 100 roots/square cm
Baldness (skin visible through hair) seen only when this decreases to 50 roots/square cm
    When correcting baldness -

    • Moderate stage loss - replace about 25 - 30roots per square cm
    • Severe stage loss - replace 50 roots per square cm
  • What is our Philosophy of HT Surgery?

Hair used for Transplantation procedure is very precious, needs to be used very carefully. So the first time has to be best time.

This procedure does not add/grow any new hair to the scalp, it merely redistributes existing hair.

The existing hair may continue to be lost, hence the hair bank needs to be handled very carefully, as another HT session to newer areas of baldness may be needed few years later.

    Factors affecting end result

    More OR Less
    White OR Black
    Straight OR Curly
    Thick OR Thin
